Newsletter Editor Needed
As mentioned last month, I will not be able to continue doing the DCHA newsletter. Any member interested please contact either myself or Kevin, as May will be the last issue I will be publishing. After that, it's up to you. The new editor can use whatever style and format they would like - you don't have to do it the same way that I have.
Show your creativity and become the next newsletter editor.

The Back Page
Back in September of 2006, the father of a horse crazy girl was looking for a way to be involved in his child's passion. Being new to the horse world, he heard about a local group that was in need of a newsletter editor. This father enjoyed creating and publishing documents on his computer, and thought this would be a great way to be involved. Plus he worked at home as a dairy farmer, so his schedule was his own to determine.
And so time went by - the first horse retired to be the leader of her herd at home & a younger one took her place as the competition horse. And now another is being trained to hopefully become the eventing horse.
Other changes have also happened. Economics have caused changes at home, leading this girl's father to exit dairy farming and become employed full time. The other daughter has taken up riding as well, with lessons 2 to 3 times a week for both. And their brother has found archery through 4-H and playing football in the fall.
As you have probably determined by now, I am describing myself. As much as I have enjoyed doing the DCHA newsletter for the past 3 1/2 years, I must also be honest with myself and with you the members, that I no longer have the time to give it the attention it deserves. Therefore I am looking for a DCHA member to take over the newsletter editor position ASAP. I will give the new editor the password and publishing information to the blog, as well as the DCHA owned laser printer I now have.
I thank you for all of the compliments during my time as the editor of YOUR newsletter. If you have any interest in becoming the next editor, please contact me at affeldfamily@gmail.com

Jefferson Parade

December 5th, my daughter Abbey Rose and I joined the riders of Hags on Nags for the Jefferson Festival of Lights Parade. Crystal Kirchberg and her son Justin were there too. There were 13 other horses and ponies, some walking and some riding. All were decorated with Christmas lights and assorted holiday garb. We took our mini gelding, Angel. He wore tinsel on his head and angel wings on his back! We put lights on the shafts of his cart, too.
Everyone had a good time and the horses behaved. Angel was very popular with the crowd. He got his picture in the Jefferson Union paper as the "Pegasus Pony." Then, when the results of the judging were in, Hags on Nags was announced the winner of the Animal Division for the parade.
All in all, a great night!

2010 Silent Auction Donations

The 2010 DCHA Tack Swap is coming up next month, and in place of the SSA this year, we are having a silent auction benefit for this year's recipient, Judy Strehlow.
See the posted letter about making donations towards the auction. You can also print and use the letter to ask businesses for auction donations as well. The second page is comprised of two receipts, one for the person or business making the donation, and the other to be sent along with the donation.
