October DCHA minutes

The October DCHA meeting was called to order by President Kevin Juliuson.

Treasurer’s Report - Bonnie sent Kevin an update. We made $300 on NBHA show.

Secretary’s Report - approved as printed in the newsletter.

Steve Haase did a presentation about the Jefferson County Draft Horse Club
and their work days at Old World Wisconsin, with the fall harvest being October 10.
Sen. Scott Fitzgerald was unable to attend our meeting as planned, but does want to reschedule. Possibility of having him be the featured speaker at the Tack Swap in February.

Old Business -banquet - DCHA will pay for the meals for officers and committee chairs. Missy needs points ASAP for year end. Kevin needs suggestions for Appreciation Award to be presented at the banquet.

Calendar - Have four monthly ads sold and one possible, plus five business card ads. The cut off date is December 15 to make a decision on going to print depending on if enough ads are sold.
Need to check with Crystal Creek Riders about ranch show for next year.

New Business - need ideas for a benefit person for 2010.

Club Reports - CCR - meeting next week; trail ride at Ukaradee last week.

Kin Krest - update about trail work coming.

WSHC - Sen. Scott Fitzgerald spoke about slaughter bill. DNR is proposing a hunting season extension on state land. District 3 Christmas party December 5from 1-5pm at the Wade House. Foundation received a big thank you card from 4-H gymkhana for grant money towards championship show at State Fair. UW Madison will have seminar for serious horse owner on February 20. Foundation fundraiser at House on the Rock February 13, 2010. WI Interscholastic Program will receive a grant.

Dodge Co 4-H - major emphasis on safety this year, along with clinics and working on patterns. October meeting will be games and pizza. November meeting will start at 6:30 with parents and leader meeting while members start no-sew blanket for Shop with Cops. Dodge County was well represented at State Speed Expo. Six to seven youth members expressed interest in attending State Leaders Conference at Oshkosh. There is interest in fixing up the fairgrounds arena for show use.

Coming next month at the November 3 DCHA meeting at Culvers will be election of officers for 2010.

Anna Boschert, grade 8, Beaver Dam, Leipsic: in photography champion related horse, top ten action and entered still.

Kimberly Duckett, grade 5, Beaver Dam, Leipsic: in model horse—grand champion in pony halter, reserve champion in western halter, top tens in english halter, costume, draft halter, western pleasure and showmanship plus entered an trail, hunter under saddle, open other performance, gymkhana, hunter over fences; plus top ten in educational poster, top ten action photo and entered a still photo.

Erinn Kiesow, grade 9, Waterloo, Portland Boosters: in model horse-top tens in draft halter, english halter, and gymkhana.

Kallie Kiesow, grade 11, Waterloo, Portland Boosters: in model horse-grand champion in draft halter, top ten in western halter plus entered gymkhana, english halter and open other performance.

Alesha Lund, grade 11, North Lake, County Line: in pony grades 9-13--grand champion in western pleasure, stock seat equitation and western showmanship; reserve champion in saddleseat/hunt pleasure; top ten in saddleseat/ hunt equitation. In educational events: grand champion clothes horse for member and horse item; reserve champion in art any other craft and top tens in judging w/o reasons and drawing, in addition to entering poster, action photo, and woodworking.

Alexis Ottman, grade 8, Iron Ridge, County Line: in pony grade 6-8 classes-top tens in western showmanship and western pleasure, entered stock seat equitation, saddleseat/hunt equitation and trail; entered clothes horse, judging w/o reasons, action photo, poster and drawing.

Jessica Spern, grade 11, Watertown, County Line: participated in hunt showmanship, western showmanship, hunt seat equitation, and hunter under saddle.

Raelyn Woock, grade 9, Burnett, Burnett, Inc.: top ten in stock seat equitation; entered western showmanship, hunter under saddle and western pleasure, hunt seat equitation; plus in educational: grand champion in clothes horse accessory and entered judging w/o reasons.

Ronna Woock, grade 7, Burnett, Burnett, Inc.: top tens in hunter under saddle, western showmanship and western pleasure and entered stock seat equitation and hunt seat equitation. In educational: reserve champion in clothes horse accessory and top ten in judging w/o reasons.
